The Bing Lightweight was built in the later 1960s when the emphasis
changed from noseriding to turning. Gliding and noseriding became
less important, though still a factor, and drive and turning became
the main focus, Bing designed this single fin surfboard which then
evolved into the modern longboard. This board is glassed lighter
(6+6oz deck, 6oz bottom) for increased maneuverability, hence the
name “Lightweight” and was designed with little concave
and a step deck to lessen swing weight in turning. Ideal for medium
to large surf and strong offshore conditions.
